Rizpah Watching Her Sons

Delivered by King David to the Gibeonites as atonement for a horrible famine during his reign, seven descendents of Saul, including the two sons of Saul and Rizpah, were hanged at the sanctuary of Gibeah. This tragic biblical scene, taken from 2 Samuel 21:10, depicts Rizpah's anguished vigil over the bodies of her two dead sons to prevent them from being devoured by animals.
