Thomas Pagan, Esquire

John Miers

English, 1757 - 1821

John Miers developed a method of painting silhouettes with black and bronze tints on plaster. His advertisements stressed the accuracy of his profile likenesses and the speed of their execution; he promised that the time of sitting would not exceed five minutes. Miers also designed and supplied the frames that made his silhouettes into rings, brooches, and lockets.
