Zlata Llamas (Doña Luisa Coomaraswamy)American (born Argentina), 1905 - 1970
Daughter of a wealthy Boston-based industrialist, Miriam Winslow (1909–1988) trained with modern dance pioneers Ted Shawn, Mary Wigman, and Harald Kreutzberg. Here a young Winslow poses in Indian jewelry, blouse (choli), and skirt (ghagra). In developing her unique creative voice, Winslow, like others of her generation, looked to the dance traditions of India, in addition to studying German expressive dance and Spanish flamenco.
