Andrea Appiani

Italian, 1754 - 1817

Appiani was an important Lombard Neoclassical painter who worked for Napoleon after the French invasion of Italy in 1796, which meant that, unlike many of his fellow Italian artists, his career was not seriously impaired by political events at the turn of the eighteenth century.
