Artist/maker unknownThe Royal Union was a stagecoach company that operated between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, Scotland, from about 1795 to about 1850. The term rummer, which refers to short-stemmed glasses such as this one, probably derives from Roemer, the German word for a wineglass intended to hold Rhenish wine (wine produced in the Rhine Valley).
