Woman's Late Afternoon Dress

Tassell perfected this basic silhouette over many seasons: a spare neckline; gently sloping shoulders; and a softly gathered, bell-shaped skirt with a satin ribbon sash loosely tied in a bow. This simple look appealed to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, who wore the designer's clothes on her trips with the president to Latin America, India, and Pakistan in 1961 and 1962.
