Woman's Coat and Skirt
Located on Walnut Street in Philadelphia, Ville de Paris had an importing office in Paris. This coat-and skirt-ensemble is similar in look to those offered by Paul Poiret and Callot Soeurs in 1915, which featured full skirts in the "Russian" style worn with short belted coats. The matching hat was purchased at the Philadelphia specialty shop Irma March. The ensemble was worn by Mrs. Alexander Sellers, the former Edith Ferris Bringhurst (1874 - 1947), whose father acquired Rockwood Manor in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1892. Edith lived at Rockwood until her marriage in 1897.
