Miss Fit

Norma Minkowitz

American, born 1937

Artist Norma Minkowitz began her career with drawing and then moved to fiber, which she sees as another linear medium. Miss Fit, in the shape of a dressmaker's form, demonstrates her use of stiffened fiber as both technique and structure. The interlaced, see-through construction makes the interior a visible part of the piece, furthering Minkowitz's investigation of psychological complexities such as the concept of containment.
