Butter Tub and Cover
Artist/maker unknownImage 1 of 41 / 4
Butter tubs appeared on almost every table in the Netherlands, where much bread and butter was consumed. The shape of this tub derives from wooden utensils that had lids held in place by two staves. Here, the staves are not necessary but the leaf-form handles retain the holes.
