Parrot (one of a pair)

Artist/maker unknown

Image 1 of 21 / 2

The Chinese potters of the Kangxi period (1662-1722) produced a great quantity of parrot figures perched on a perforated rock. This bird, one of a pair, found a ready appreciation among the potters in Delft, who not only copied the shape and decoration of the Chinese pieces, but also included the perforated base.
