Isadora Kosofsky

American, born 1993

Isadora Kosofsky is a Los Angeles–based documentary photographer who currently resides in New York City. She began her photographic career approximately four years ago, when she was in her teens. She has won several awards and distinctions including the 2012 Inge Morath Award and the 2008 Los Angeles Spotlight Award in Photography.

Kosofsky gained an appreciation of the elderly with the death of her grandmother. Her focus in this long-term project, entitled The Three, depicts the loneliness of aging lives and the relationships of the elderly. Here she documents the unique connection of three people: Jeanie, 82, Will, 84, and Adelina, 90, who meet each morning at a local senior-care facility. They spend their day together, relying on one another as a shield against loneliness, illness, and the fear of aging. Theirs is a different kind of love and interdependence.
