Photographer Kati Horna fled Nazi-occupied France for Mexico in 1939 and remained there for the rest of her career. She made her name editing photo-essays for political publications, but she also created experimental photographs heavily influenced by Surrealism.
Themes of displacement and transience run throughout her exploratory work. In this picture, the distorted reflections in a convex mirror interact with the organic woodgrain patterns of the floor below.
