Jar

Inchin Lee

Korean, born 1957

Although born in Seoul, Inchin Lee spent his childhood in California. He returned to Korea in his early twenties after developing a fascination with Asian pottery. The wide range of shapes and styles found in Lee’s work reflect his broad exploration of East Asian ceramic-making traditions. The reddish-brown thick clay walls and natural ash glaze of this faceted jar can be traced to the Bizen wares of Japan, first produced in the 1200s and still made today.
