Artist/maker unknown

This Y-shaped orphrey cross is embroidered with a tree trunk with its branches lopped off and the crucified Christ bleeding from his wounds. Included as well are the symbols of three of the Evangelists: a lion (Saint Mark), an ox (Saint Luke), and an angel (Saint Matthew). Saint John and the Virgin are depicted at the foot of the cross.
