Water Container (Mizusashi)

Artist/maker unknown

The water container (mizusashi) holds the pure water that is used to rinse the teabowl and to fill the kettle in which water is boiled for the preparation of whipped tea. The important role and prominent size of mizusashi make them one of the more visible and prized of the tea ceremony objects.
