Portrait of a Manchu Lady
MangguliChinese (Manchu), 1672 - 1736
Image 1 of 21 / 2
Depicted in the privacy of her boudoir, this elegant Manchu lady is surrounded by rich furnishings and accoutrements that suggest she is affluent and cultured. Flowers and incense perfume the air, as do the sweet-smelling Buddha-hand citrons (within the bowl on the cushion) that symbolize blessings, wealth, and longevity.
