Parts of an Armor for the Tilt
Artist/maker unknownImage 1 of 51 / 5
These are the remains of an extremely rare form of armor made in France during the mid-sixteenth century for use in the tilt. Only one armor fragment preserved in the Musée de l'Armée, Paris, compares with these pieces. The delicate original etched and gilded ornamentation of the armor, now abraded, can be best observed beneath the right reinforcing shoulder plate and on the lower right arm.
