New York from Boat to New Bedford VII
Dorothy NormanAmerican, 1905 - 1997
Silhouetting the skyscrapers of Lower Manhattan against a late afternoon sun, Dorothy Norman reveals a city as sublime as it is precious. The Brooklyn Bridge, itself an admired marvel of modern technology, spans the East River. In the waters below the bridge is the dispersing wake of the outbound boat. The skyscrapers pictured include American International Building, 1932; Bank of Manhattan Trust Company Building, 1930; City Bank Farmers Trust Building, 1931; Singer Building, 1908 (demolished 1968); Transportation Building, 1927; Woolworth Building, 1913.
