Saints Peter and John the Evangelist Healing the Cripple at the Temple Gate

Vincenzo Camuccini

Italian, 1771 - 1844

Like Pietro Benvenuti, Camuccini was a prominent Neoclassical painter who benefited from the patronage of the emperor Napoleon and held several high official positions in the Roman art world. This drawing demonstrates the careful contouring and the inspiration from antique sculpture typical of Neoclassical draughtsmanship.
