Philadelphia's John B. Stetson Hat Company, founded in 1866 by John B. Stetson (1830β1906), was by the 1920s the world's largest hat factory. Stetson manufactured dozens of styles worn by men of fashion, from their famous cowboy hats to top hats for formal day and evening wear. Flat-crowned straw boaters were worn for summer, while stiff felts, such as Derbies and fedoras, were common for business wear.
