Woman's Evening Dress
Charles Frederick Worth, famed as the father of haute couture, died in 1895, but the fashion house he founded continued to furnish exquisite garments to an exclusive clientele under the direction of his sons and then grandsons. This black satin dress features sparkling decoration at the shoulders and around the dropped waist--including sequin monkeys--and the short skirt with asymmetrical side-back train is accented by a cerise ruffle.
