Fall/Winter 1998

Woman's Dress

Rei Kawakubo's fall/winter 1998 collection tempered her avant-garde work from the previous year, which radically disfigured the body with extreme padding. The new collection emphasized disconnecting parts, and featured clothes that were sometimes fragmented, broken up, or incomplete. In this dress, for example, the left side does not match the right.
